August 10, 2023 Hoffmann Hillermann Newsletter

Hello Friends,

Our area has received some much-needed rain lately. Hopefully, we will start to receive average amounts of rain on a regular basis. Just remember, once it has not rained for a few days, check the soil at the base of your plants for dryness and go back to a regular watering schedule when needed.

Plan your outdoor fall projects now so you will be ready to work on them as time and weather allows. Make a list of items and tools you will need. Start getting the tools and hard good supplies (blocks, pavers, rock) ready now. Then, as soon as you have a chance, you will be ready to get a good start. Take notice of the location(s) where you want to add new plants. Write down if it is next to or away from the house, what side of the house (North, South, etc.), the amount of sun exposure (how long, morning sun, afternoon sun, etc.), the soil type (clay, rich, sandy, etc.) and soil moisture/drainage information. With this information, we can help you by suggesting plants that will work best in that area.

Get ready to start the FALL season! The first shipment of fall vegetables just arrived today! Broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, swiss chard, cabbage and kale starter plants are all available in the Open Bay Greenhouse. A few fall flower varieties arrived also. Flower, vegetable and herb seeds are always available in our garden center.

Enjoy Your Yard & Gardens,
